I was born in Tianjin, China, a city filled with a sense of humor. Everyone here is optimistic and cheerful, and they love to tell jokes. This has also shaped my upbeat and positive personality.

At a young age, I got deeply captivated by the exotic, culturally imprinted scenery in the TV programs that introduced foreign cultures and admired their presenters fluently speaking diverse languages. My curiosity about foreign cultures and desire to be like them fueled my goal of learning different languages.
Having studied English in primary school, I can communicate fluently in English. Given that I was fascinated by Kafka’s novels in high school, I majored in German Studies and earned a bachelor’s degree from the Renmin University of China and a master’s degree in German as a Foreign Language from the Philipps University of Marburg in Germany. After seven years of hard work in Germany, I now speak German like a native speaker. I also passed the Japanese language exam at the highest level because of my interest in Japanese TV dramas. Moreover, Latin America’s Magic Realism and my passion for travel there motivated me to learn Spanish.

After graduating from the University of Marburg, I worked as a clerk at China Visa Service Center in Frankfurt for four years, providing customer service in German, English and Chinese.
Concurrently, I also work as a German instructor, teaching German online and offline to students from different countries.
I also had some part-time jobs and internships, working as an editor and translator. I have done the following:
- Translating entertainment news from Japanese into Chinese at Sina Corporation from January 2022 to July 2022.
- Translating the medical article Botulinum A for aesthetic facial narrowing and harmonization of facial proportions from German into Chinese in July 2021.
- Translating German industrial and engineering documents into Chinese and serving as an interpreter for conversations between Chinese and German engineers at Beijing Benz Automotive Co., LTD. from September 2015 to January 2016 .
- Proofreading Industry 4.0-related documents translated from the original German into Chinese at China Academy of Industry 4.0 from April 2016 to June 2016.
- Translating English and German travelling related news articles into Chinese at QYER (Beijing) Company Limited from February 2016 to June 2016.
- Translating Filmmaker’s note of intent concerning the iDOCS documentary film A Way Out from Chinese into German in August 2015.

As an independent and ambitious individual, I want to succeed and achieve bigger things in my life. However, my last full-time job at the visa center was severely disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting me to rethink my career path. Considering that my main task is providing customer service in different languages and this job highly depends on international mobility, I realized that relying solely on language capabilities may not necessarily open a new chapter of my career, thus, I must combine practical skills with them. Moreover, internet technology, which transcends geographical boundaries, plays an increasingly crucial role in the context of the pandemic and is promising in the future.
I believe that blending linguistic abilities, intercultural insights, and digital technology is the way forward. With this conviction, I enrolled at MIIS, optimistic about reaching my aspirations over the next two years.
