In client-side localization work, success depends heavily on collaboration with other departments—including Product, Legal, Help Center, and Marketing. One key principle is ensuring that localization teams are involved early in the product planning process. Early involvement helps avoid last-minute surprises and allows localization to support launches smoothly and efficiently.
But how do we get there?
One important strategy is stakeholder education—helping other teams understand localization workflows, timelines, and dependencies.
For this project, I imagined myself as part of the Airbnb localization team. I created a brown bag presentation designed for the Help Center team to introduce them to our localization process, with a specific focus on turnaround time for content translation. The goal was to foster smoother collaboration and set realistic expectations.
To support this initiative, I also built a Localization Resource Template using Google Sites. This resource acts as a centralized documentation hub where Help Center stakeholders can find guidelines, contacts, workflows, and timelines.
