I am Ruiqi from China.
At a young age, I got deeply captivated by the exotic, culturally imprinted scenery in the TV programs that introduced foreign cultures and admired their presenters fluently speaking diverse languages. My curiosity about foreign cultures and desire to be like them fueled my goal of learning different languages.
Having studied English in primary school, I can communicate fluently in English. Given that I was fascinated by Kafka’s novels in high school, I majored in German Studies and earned a bachelor’s degree in China and a master’s degree in Germany. After almost seven years of hard work in Germany, I now speak German like a native speaker. I also passed the Japanese language exam at the highest level because of my interest in Japanese TV dramas. Moreover, Latin America’s Magic Realism and my passion for travel there motivated me to learn Spanish.
Due to my love for cultures and languages, all my work experiences so far are related to linguistics. I worked as an office clerk at China Visa Service Center in Frankfurt in Germany, as German instructor, part-time translator and interpreter. (You can read more story about me.)

The COVID-19 pandemic posted a negative influence on my full-time job but also gave me a chance to rethink my career path. I still want to stick to language filed, but combine technology and enter the localization sector, because I see that internet technology, which transcends geographical boundaries, plays an increasingly crucial role in the context of the pandemic and consider it promising in the future.
I am studying Translation and Localization Management at Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. I have created this ePortfolio to document the skills and lessons that I have learned and can apply to my future work, along with my thoughts on translation and localization! So you can definitely know more about me and my projects! I organize everything on the “My Posts” page with different categories and show them with rich media assets, including texts, videos, pictures. I update my ePortfolio regularly to keep everything on the website current. You can always reach me out using the information provided.

I put a lot of effort and ideas into establishing and designing this website. As an out-going person, I chose a bright and colorful theme to express my personality and passion. Hope you can feel my warm welcome when visiting my ePortfolio! Regarding the ePortfolio icon, which contains a cute dog and a bubble with different words, it symbolizes the dog that was with me for 11 years as well as my love for multiple languages.
